TEAM: 18U Eastman

COACHES: Emily Eastman, Curt Kolar, Andy Orr and Josh Stutsman

Emily Eastman is in her 5th year of coaching and in her second year in the Sundodgers Organization. Emily played softball at a high caliber growing up and continues to learn from college coaches as an NFCA member. She has coached the 06/07/08 age group over the past couple years and created successful and competitive teams. Outside of softball, Emily has a Bachelors in Special Education and a Masters in Education. This background allows the girls to be given instruction that is tailored to how they learn best and in a positive environment, while still remaining competitive as a team and within the team as they compete for their playing time throughout the year.

Curt Kolar has been coaching the past 13 years in Little League and in a select organization. This will be his second year coaching in the Sundodgers organization.  He has coached the Mukilteo Little League softball to district championships in 2018 and 2022. He is passionate about coaching and strives to make a positive impact on young people on and off the field. He believes in coaching the love and respect of the game and that it is possible to have fun, while staying competitive. He is looking forward to working hard, developing their skills and building team unity. It’s all about the journey.

Andy Orr has been coaching for the past 12 years within Mill Creek Little League and the Mill Creek Mayhem Organization. This will be his second year coaching in the Sundodgers organization. He was a part of the coaching staff for the Mill Creek All Stars team in 2019 that won state and finished 4th in San Bernardino for the Regional All-Star tournament. While coaching Mill Creek Mayhem, Emily and Andy coached teams to many 1st and 2nd place finishes in local tournaments.

Josh Stutsman has been coaching for the past two years within the Mill Creek Mayhem organization. This will be his second year coaching in the Sundodgers organization. He has worked collaboratively with Emily, Andy and Curt over the past year. Before coaching within Mayhem, he coached within Lake Stevens Little League at various different levels. He also was a part of leading Mayhem to their success the past two years in local tournaments.

TRAVEL

Recruiting tourneys are “stay to play” tourneys. Meaning we have to stay in certain hotels they choose, or the team can pay a fine to stay somewhere else. This means all players must stay in team hotel. While on the road, it is a business trip. There will be structured team events for the girls, but it is important for all the girls to be all together throughout their free time.

TOURNAMENTS

Our team will register in local and travel tournaments. We will play in NSA/USSSA/ASA local tournaments from Everett to Kent area. There will be 2-3 in the fall and tournaments starting again in the early spring into summer time. We will travel out of state for different tournaments. These tournaments will be Triple Crown tournaments that have college exposure opportunities. Exposure tournaments often are a couple days and will be out of state.

HIGH SCHOOL SEASON

During March-May, we will continue to have a weekend practice, with the occasional tournament to keep our team playing together during the high school season.

TEAM COHESION

Throughout the season, we will have different team bonding opportunities for the girls. It is important for each girl to make these a priority. Our goal is to have the girls learn to respect each other, their abilities and areas of growth, while supporting each other throughout the season. We want the girls to learn to play for each other and have each other's backs on and off the field. Each player has a role on the team, whether they are on the field or on the bench. The girls will compete for their spots within practices and games and continue to be game ready throughout the season.
